WHY?

Demographics in Auckland CBD is quite different from other parts of Auckland City and Auckland Region.

-According to the records from Statistics NZ, one of five people in NZ was born out of NZ. One of three people in Auckland Region was born out of NZ. One of two people in Auckland CBD was born out of NZ.

- Most CBD residents have lived at their usual residence for less than 5 years.

- 32% of the residents were students. The proportion of single young people is much higher than Auckland City and Regional proportions.

- A high concentration of Asian ethnic groups, and low proportions of Maori and Pacific Peoples.

- More tourists chose Auckland as their first destination when they came to NZ and more international students than other places in NZ, the fluctuation of the flowing population is amazingly changed a lot.

It would be very interesting to relate the demographics to the accommodation in Auckland CBD area, to find out how the population changed in the inner city.
